Contact HSI Explorer Post 601 to join or learn more about the program.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Explorer Post 601 is a premier federal law enforcement youth program. Explorers participate in hands-on law enforcement training, develop leadership skills, and receive mentorship from special agents.

Program Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident.

  • Be between the ages of 14 and 20.

  • Be enrolled in an accredited high school or college.

  • Have and maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).

  • Have a good disciplinary standing at school.

  • Pass a background check.​

  • Live in the New York City Metropolitan Area (NY/NJ/CT).

  • Obtain parent or guardian's consent (if under 18).

Program Requirements

Selected Recruits and Explorers must adhere to all four of the below criteria to remain a participant in the program:

  1. ​Commit to attending weekly meetings every Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, starting in October and ending in June.

  2. Remain at least in part-time student status as defined by their accredited academic institution.

  3. Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.

  4. Complete all administrative requirements (e.g., sign the Agreement Form, pay a $100 registration fee, etc.).

Application Process

​​Step 1: Apply

Read the program eligibility and requirements carefully and submit all required documents by the listed deadline.

You must provide a complete application package in document files, which includes the following:

*Part C of the Exploring Annual Health and Medical Record & Individualized Medication Orders may be submitted at a later date. Please submit it through our email at info@hsipost601.org no later than November 1, 2024.

**A $100 registration fee will be refunded only if you are not accepted into the program.​​

Step 2: Referral & Consideration

After submission of your application, the Recruitment Unit will assess all applications, identify all eligible applicants and refer those applications to the advisors for further consideration.

Step 3: Selection

If you are selected, you will receive an email notification. From there, we will schedule your start date and provide you with instructions for your first day. You must then complete all remaining administrative requirements.
